Menezes, CPM Let us turn to some practical aids that can encourage us to establish a strong spiritual life. Monthly Confession It will suffice to say that the beautiful Tribunal of Mercy that is this Sacrament is an irreplaceable fountain of healing grace for our souls. And let us not be afraid to call on Our Lady of Mercy to assist us in making a sound confession. Weekly Eucharist This, of course, includes your Sunday Mass obligation — which is an obligation not because we fear God but precisely because we love Him.
Try, though, to attend one or two weekday Masses if your schedule permits. Morning Offering This is a simple practice every Christian can integrate into his or her daily life. It is traditionally said that St. Philip Neri spoke these words each morning upon rising: Daily Rosary Try to pray just five decades a day — a fifteen- to twenty-minute practice.
You can even incorporate the Rosary into your daily commute or walk — be creative. In family settings you can pray it with your spouse and children.

History of Technology Heroes and Villains – A little light reading Here you will find a brief history of technology. Initially inspired by the development of batteries, it covers technology in general and includes some interesting little known, or long forgotten, facts as well as a few myths about the development of technology, the science behind it, the context in which it occurred and the deeds of the many personalities, eccentrics and charlatans involved.
You may find the Search Engine , the Technology Timeline or the Hall of Fame quicker if you are looking for something or somebody in particular. Scroll down and see what treasures you can discover. Background We think of a battery today as a source of portable power, but it is no exaggeration to say that the battery is one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind.
Volta’s pile was at first a technical curiosity but this new electrochemical phenomenon very quickly opened the door to new branches of both physics and chemistry and a myriad of discoveries, inventions and applications. The electronics, computers and communications industries, power engineering and much of the chemical industry of today were founded on discoveries made possible by the battery.
Pioneers It is often overlooked that throughout the nineteenth century, most of the electrical experimenters, inventors and engineers who made these advances possible had to make their own batteries before they could start their investigations. They did not have the benefit of cheap, off the shelf, mass produced batteries. For many years the telegraph, and later the telephone, industries were the only consumers of batteries in modest volumes and it wasn’t until the twentieth century that new applications created the demand that made the battery a commodity item.
In recent years batteries have changed out of all recognition. No longer are they simple electrochemical cells. Today the cells are components in battery systems, incorporating electronics and software, power management and control systems, monitoring and protection circuits, communications interfaces and thermal management. Never shy of delivering a sound bite, after taking his first gold the year-old Italian requested live on air that his father keep his promise of a new red Ferrari as reward, then promptly asked gold medal-winning ice skater Katarina Witt out on a date. Fans of slalom and giant slalom GS , known as the technical events, were used to the quiet and unassuming Swede Ingemar Stenmark, who had dominated the sport for a decade.
Tomba was a larger-than-life character The son of a textile magnate, Alberto and his older brother Marco did not grow up skiing in the Alps like the great Italian skiers before them. Franco Tomba would drive his boys from his 16th-century villa on the outskirts of Bologna to the small ski resort of Sestola in the Apennines. He would drive Marco and me to the mountains at 6am and we would ski all day.
Marco is one year older than me and was pretty fast, but for us skiing was only fun. At 6ft and 90kg, Tomba was far from that. However, slalom technique was changing, and in spring-loaded gates were introduced into the World Cup. This meant that racers no longer needed to duck around a solid gate, but could take a straighter route down the mountain.

Dagger with Zoomorphic Hilt, ca. Beginning with the 17th century, another form of dagger—the plug bayonet and later the socket bayonet —was used to convert muskets and other longarms into spears by mounting them on the barrel. They were periodically used for eating; the arm was also used for a variety of other tasks such as mending boots, house repairs and farm jobs.
The final function of the dagger was as an obvious and ostentatious means of enhancing a man’s personal apparel, conforming to fashion which dictated that all men carried them.

She explained that what she really likes about our teaching is that we don’t go by what men say, but rather what The Book says. I have always tried to take that approach, even if people don’t agree with me. I just want to get them into The Book, and let them see what the Book really says. Many times we say things they don’t agree with, but at least it makes them get into The Book and see why they don’t agree; and many times it brings them around to our point of view.

Now, let’s look at it:
A very indie, modernist film about identity, fear, freedom, and capitalism. Not always politically correct and loaded with both verbal and visual social and political commentary, This Is Not A Movie avoids being too heavy with the use of satirical shorts and awesome music well-placed throughout. Nonetheless, it can seem a little preachy if you’re at a point in the film where you’re not exactly sure what’s going on, or if you happen to disagree with the film’s message.
As an actor, Edward Furlong was a pleasant surprise. It’s a role that seemed to click with him, and he’s convincing as an angst-y, anti-social and possibly mentally unstable main character who is struggling to resolve all his inner conflicts. Without giving away too much, I’ll say the others could’ve used a little work, though. Overall, this is one of my favorites. The cinematography is very clean and focused for an indie film, despite the plot not always seeming the same–which I don’t mind.
The content can get a little dark and there’s also plenty of fourth-wall breaking and poking fun at the movie itself.
